We’re John and Mat, co-owners of Raising Reptiles in Chesterfield Township, Michigan. Together, we have decades of experience keeping, breeding, and caring for snakes, lizards, tortoises, and other reptiles.
We created Raising Reptiles to be more than a typical pet store. Our goal is to provide a clean, welcoming place where people can find healthy reptiles, quality supplies, knowledgeable advice, and experiences that make these incredible animals accessible to everyone.
When we’re not helping customers in the store, you’ll often find us hosting reptile birthday parties, educational animal demonstrations, school programs, and community events throughout Macomb County and Metro Detroit.
All of the reptiles we sell are captive bred unless otherwise noted, and we take great care in selecting healthy animals from reputable breeders and sources. Our animals receive species-appropriate diets, including quality feeders, gut-loaded insects, fresh vegetables, greens, and supplements when appropriate.
We take pride in the health and condition of every animal in our care. Whether you’re an experienced reptile keeper or choosing your first reptile, our goal is to provide healthy, well-cared-for animals along with knowledgeable, honest guidance to help you succeed with them at home.
We carry a wide selection of reptile supplies from trusted brands including Zoo Med, Exo Terra, Zilla, Pangea, Fluker’s, MartyMade, and more. Whether you’re setting up a new habitat or upgrading an existing enclosure, we stock heating and lighting, UVB, substrates, hides, décor, feeding supplies, supplements, thermostats, habitat accessories, and other reptile-care essentials.
We also carry live plants, microgreens, bioactive supplies, cleanup crews, feeders, and specialty reptile foods to help you build and maintain healthy, naturalistic enclosures.
